Overview

Socialease is dedicated to providing a platform for individuals with social anxiety disorders, offering both emergency relief and daily learning opportunities.

In social situations, individuals with social anxiety disorders may experience adverse reactions in multiple aspects such as emotions and physiology, impacting their daily lives.

Final Solution

Embarking on a daily journey to overcome social anxiety

Daily training, add affiramtion & emotion tracking
Users can initiate a daily check-in training to overcome social anxiety on the app's homepage, documenting their emotional changes, and personalizing affirmations based on their preferences.

A support community for individuals dealing with social anxiety

Sharing or discussing one's own stories and experiences
In the community, individuals with social anxiety can connect with others who share similar experiences, realizing that their reactions are normal. Likewise, they can learn from others who have overcome social anxiety, helping themselves to better address their challenges.

Training records and personalized adjustment modes

Better understanding of progress achieved
Users can access their past check-in frequencies and task completion records here. This feature aims to motivate them to persist, fostering a sense of pride in their accomplishments.

Providing assistance for users' urgent states in social situations

Simplified functionality, integrated with physiological sensing from smartwatches
Smartwatch can assist in assessing the user's state through changes in blood oxygen and heart rate, automatically providing affirmations in social situations.

Discovering

Find target users

Before conducting interviews, we pre-screen users using a questionnaire to ensure they belong to our study population.
We use the SHYQ - Henderson/Zimbardo Questionnaire to screen interview subjects, and according to clinical diagnostic criteria, individuals with a questionnaire score greater than 3.5 can be diagnosed with social anxiety disorder.

User Interviews(N = 11)

We explore the pain points caused by social anxiety disorder through user interviews and attempt to find potential solutions.
· Understanding the situations, causes, manifestations, and possible methods to alleviate social anxiety disorder in the General Question session;

· Gaining a deeper understanding of social anxiety through situational simulations in the Contextual Questions session;

· Encouraging the participants to share their own experiences freely

We use affinity diagramming to summarize and categorize the interview results.

Competitive Analysis

Also, we conducted competitive analysis on the social anxiety treatment apps available on the market and derived the core functions of the product based on user interviews.
Most of the apps offer a training feature that allows users to enhance their ability to cope with social anxiety through practice.
However, these apps do not provide real-time assistance in social anxiety scenarios.
Furthermore, based on user interviews, two-thirds of users mentioned the importance of recording practice data and found that community engagement was helpful in alleviating social anxiety. These features are less commonly found in existing apps.

Takeaways

Identifying User Pain Points in Everyday Contexts🔍
Identifying user pain points in daily life is crucial for effective UX design. By closely observing users in their routines, we gain insights into challenges and frustrations. This informs targeted improvements, ensuring a user-friendly experience in mobile apps, websites, and products.
Delivering a Better User Experience by Integrating Multiple Devices⌚
Through user research, we have identified that users face social anxiety in two main scenarios: social settings and everyday life. Providing assistance in only one type of scenario is insufficient. Therefore, we integrate mobile phones and smartwatches to offer users strategies for different contexts, providing both proactive and passive forms of support to address their social anxiety in a more holistic user experience.
